Bushfires in Australia are a major concern and many suppliers are now claiming effectiveness of products.

Much research has been gathered from recent bushfires, including the Jan 03 event in Canberra ACT.  This has provided important data which is now available to be included in the revision of AS3959.

The development of test protocols specifically for bushfire products and conditions are under consideration by test laboratories and fire authorities.  As information and/or test protocols are developed it will be added to this page for ease of access.

An Australian standard defining methods of fire testing elements of construction intended to be used in Bushfire prone areas is currently at committee ballot stage with expected publication in mid 2007. This section of the web site will provide details of systems that have been tested to the new test methods.

The following reports are available to provide background information on the development of the test protocols but should not be used as alternatives to systems that have been fully tested to AS 1530.8
